After 15 years as General Manager/COO of Congressional CC, Michael Leemhuis has moved to Ocean Reef Club to succeed Paul Astbury, who has retired. Congressional has named Jeffrey Kreafle as its new GM/COO; he will move from his current position at Bellerive CC to start at the Bethesda, Md., club April 1.

A Bethlehem Township developer unveiled plans Monday to create a townhouse community within the boundaries of Lower Saucon Township’s Silver Creek Country Club.
The proposal calls for 120 custom townhouses built on three arcels totaling 30 acres at the northern, central and southern edges of the 280-acre golf course off Linden Avenue.
Developer David Spirk of Spirk Brothers Inc. said the homes would be built according to the buyers’ specifications, range in price from $300,000 to $500,000 and have facades that complement the existing stone structures. Owners would be required to belong to the country club.
“It will take up to two years for some of the organic changes we’ve made to mature into place, but we’re excited about making this an outstanding golf facility for the members.”

The Palm Desert-based Bighorn Institute held its annual fund-raising tournament Nov. 24 at Stone Eagle Golf Club in Palm Desert. This year marked the 27th annual event for the Bighorn Institute Golf Classic. The special day of golf benefited the institute’s research and conservation efforts for the endangered Peninsular bighorn sheep.
The golf was preceded by a membership pre-tournament party at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Ranch Mirage. The party featured food, drinks, silent and live auctions, all enjoyed by the 145 guests.
The New York Times just profiled Montana’s most exclusive ski area, the Yellowstone Club, and things are looking up for the 13,600-acre private club. After defaulting on a $375 million loan in November 2008, the Yellowstone Club spent years trying to clean up from a messy divorce case and bankruptcy. But though the caviar bar might be gone, the Yellowstone Club is back on top and thriving.

Capital City Country Club, which has operated in the shadow of the Florida capitol since 1914, has signed a contract with Integrity Golf Company to operate the historic club. Integrity Golf Co. officially took over last Monday.
Royal Bermuda Yacht Club has been given planning permission to improve its Hamilton headquarters.
According to the planning application, which was first submitted in August, the RBYC is seeking to extend an existing hardstand on the Albouy’s Point property, relocate the dry dock, and build a new marina office with a viewing platform — an extension of the hardstand used for the Youth Sailing Programme.
