A recent article in the Tampa Bay Times reports St. Petersburg as the #1 draw for millennials in Florida with Tampa nipping at its heels as the #3 most attractive market for ages 20-34. It appears that millennials (your basic under 40 crowd) are invading Florida.

Since 2010, St. Petersburg’s millennial population has increased 6 percent. Tampa, due partly to the University of South Florida, boasted a 7 percent increase in millennials; that demographic now accounts for 24 percent of its residents.

Curious as to how these statistics have had an effect on private clubs, Private Club Marketing checked in with a few clubs in the St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area. Here are our findings:

Princess Royal becomes one of first women to join Royal & Ancient Golf Club

The Princess Royal and Dame Laura Davies, Britain’s most successful woman golfer, are among seven women named as the first female members of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club.

Last year, the club in St Andrews, one of the last major bastions of all-male sporting privilege, voted by an 85 per cent majority to admit women for the first time in its 260-year history. Here are the seven women that recently became members of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club.

TAG Heuer to sponsor 2015 St. Thomas International Regatta

The St. Thomas International Regatta (STIR) have announced this year’s event will be presented by TAG Heuer. Racing will be held March 27-29 in St Thomas, USVI.

The St. Thomas International Regatta, now in its forty-second year, is world-renown as the Crown Jewel of Caribbean yacht racing for its fantastic round the buoys and round the islands racing, first-class race committee and friendly can-do attitude towards its competitors. Over 80 entries, including more Grand Prix yachts and a fleet of over 25 one-design IC24s, are expected in 2015.
