For nearly every private club, Instagram is the primary social platform. It rewards beautiful, consistent imagery; the audience skews toward the demographics that join clubs and prospect children of members; the discovery surface (Reels, Explore, geotags) brings curious local prospects to the page without paid spend.
Most clubs underuse it. Three or four posts a month, no Reels, the same photo of the clubhouse from the same angle every quarter. The platform punishes inconsistency. The clubs that win Instagram treat it as a brand surface with a publishing cadence — not as an afterthought between events.
Why Instagram first
The case for prioritizing Instagram above the other platforms.
Audience match. The current member base is on Instagram (often more than they admit), and so are the children of members — the next generation of legacy members making decisions about which club to join.
Visual format. A club’s assets — architecture, golf course, F&B plating, member events — are visual by nature. Instagram is the platform that displays them at full strength.
Discovery without paid. Reels reach beyond followers. Geotags pull local prospects searching the city. Hashtags still surface to the engaged niche audiences (junior golf, equestrian, racquet) clubs care about.
Recruiting tool. Service applicants and rising staff increasingly check the club’s Instagram before the website. A weak Instagram costs the club applicants.
The clubs that win Instagram treat it as a brand surface with a publishing cadence — not as an afterthought between events.
