Rolling Stone’s September 2026 feature on private-club music nights described a new kind of perk: headline acts playing to a few hundred members. PCM founder Zack Bates was quoted in the piece. Our summary is here. This guide covers the next question our readers asked: where in New York does this actually happen, what does membership cost, and can you get in without joining?

Every entry below is sourced. Where a detail couldn’t be confirmed, we’ve left it out rather than guess. Clubs don’t publish their private-show calendars, so this is a guide to the rooms, not a list of dates.

The Members-Only Rooms

Chez Margaux · Meatpacking District

The format: private, ticketed DJ nights about twice a quarter, for roughly 250 people. Past bookings include ANOTR, Rüfüs Du Sol, Black Coffee, &ME and PAWSA. After 10pm the caviar room becomes the Gaux Gaux Room for late-night DJ sets. The club also takes the format on the road, with a St. Tropez pop-up and an après-ski set with Rampa in Courchevel.

The cost: $4,000 a year plus a $3,000 initiation fee, according to Rolling Stone. Tickets to the ANOTR night reportedly reached $1,000.

Getting in: members only.

Soho House · Multiple NYC Houses

The format: Soho House is bringing its music festival to the U.S. for the first time, at The Rooftop at Pier 17. Alanis Morissette headlines, with the Flaming Lips, MGMT, Santigold, Questlove and friends, Justine Skye and Hamilton Leithauser. The houses also host smaller in-club performances and conversations; Rolling Stone names Norah Jones, Leon Bridges and 50 Cent among past guests.

The cost: the festival is a $450 one-day ticket that includes food and drink. Dues vary by house and age tier. Check sohohouse.com for current rates.

Getting in: members and their guests.
