Oh, That Transatlantic Accent!

The Transatlantic accent, also called a Mid-Atlantic accent,  is a way of speaking English that is halfway between American and British. It makes you sound like you have a good education but no one can tell quite where you are from. You hear it in old Hollywood films from the 1930s and 1940s. It is the accent of Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, William F Buckley and (at least in some films) God.

Our 5 Favorites from Ken Fulk’s New Design Collaboration

Celebrated San Francisco-based designer Ken Fulk (Can you say Battery Club!) has created an exclusive collection in partnership with home retailer Pottery Barn. A cross between Gatsby-era elegance, fun and practicality, we are transported to a world of luxe and sophistication. For his line, the Virginia native landed on wanderlust as a touchstone. “I’m constantly marveling at the world,” he says. “Not just traveling to exotic places, but also traveling back in time, trying to re-create that child-like sense of awe we lose as adults.”
